When moving or cancelling your Sonic service you may need to return equipment to Sonic, while some equipment can stay on premises for the next tenant to use. Equipment to return depends on service and equipment types associated with your Sonic account. Failure to return equipment can result in non-return charges.
Use this checklist to determine which equipment to return and where to send it. If you have any questions, please contact Sonic Support.
ITEM NOT TO RETURN
Sonic Fiber ONT
What is that? The ONT, or optical network terminal, is the gateway device used to convert your incoming Fiber optic line to copper Ethernet for use within your home and to provide telephone service. The ONT is generally located indoors and must be adjacent to a power outlet. In some cases, it's placed in a box outside the home. This device should NOT be returned and can stay on premises for use if you or a future tenant decides to reactivate Sonic service. For 1Gbps Residential Service: The ONT is a small white device about the size of a deck of cards. For our 10Gbps Residential Service: We use a variety of ONTs, but the most common is a larger black device that is 6.4 inches in length and 9.75 inches in width. All of our ONTs will have a Fiber optic cable with a green tip and an Ethernet cable connecting to your Router. In some cases, your phone service terminates there as well.

What is that? The Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA) is a small black device that connects to the internet, registers with our voice network, and acts as a bridge to deliver Fusion Voice over your IP Broadband connection. Essentially, it emulates a standard telephone jack.
