Transferring Your Phone Number to/from Sonic

1.) Transferring a phone number to Sonic

When switching providers, it is important that you check with your current provider about their number port out process as some require specific information such as account numbers and special PIN numbers to authorize the number transfer. Also, it's very important that you do not cancel your service with your old provider until the number has been fully transferred to Sonic. If the service is cancelled, the old provider will not transfer the number and worse, the number could be lost for good.

You will need to wait until the Sonic service has been installed, then call our support team at (707)-547-3400 to initiate the number transfer process. The overall transfer process can take around 7-10 business days with most carriers.

Upon installation, Sonic will assign you a working phone number to your service as a placeholder, so that you still have a working phone while the number is transferred over. 

You can also contact your old provider to enable "Call Forwarding" on their end and route all calls to be forwarded to the temporary Sonic phone number, that way you don't miss any calls in the meantime.

2.) Transferring a phone number away from Sonic

To transfer your phone number from Sonic to another carrier, you'll need to contact your new provider and ask them to begin the transfer process with Sonic. It's also important that you keep your Sonic service active until the number has been transferred. 

The only information that the new carrier will need to authorize the transfer with Sonic is : 

- Your full name
- The address Sonic is providing your service to
- The phone number that should be transferred

Some carriers may require a PIN number, but Sonic doesn't utilize PIN numbers. If they need a PIN number and cannot leave it blank, you can provide them with 2260 as the PIN.

We can also set-up "Call Forwarding" to route all calls to your temporary number with the new provider or to your cell-phone number, so that you don't miss any calls in the meantime while the transfer takes place.
